Alexandra Exeter, known for innovative teaching techniques, former owner of Exeter Music, recognized as a respected instructor for several companies such as Schmitt Music, Taylor Robinson Music Company, Musika, Accent Music Lessons and Lacefield Music, teaches piano and voice at the Metro East Montessori School, renowned for concert performance and holding numerous academic honors– Mrs. Exeter runs one of the largest piano lesson programs in the St. Louis area, and Alexandra is now offering her extensive talents as an instructor to students in the Metro East, St. Louis Area.
Alexandra Exeter is a professional, classically trained concert pianist with over twenty years of performing experience, over ten years of experience as a music instructor, is a 3rd generation piano student of the French school of Claude Debussy, and boasts additional training in improvisation and composition. Alexandra has extensive experience with the piano, organ, various makes and models of keyboards, classical vocal training and experience with musical software such as Finale, Reason, Sebelious, FL Studio, and Midisoft Studio.
Holding an Associate of Science Degree with emphasis in Piano Performance and Educational Psychology through IECC, Alexandra is currently continuing her education with long-term aims of Doctorate in Music. Piano instructors to this point have included Doris Bland and Paulette Pruitt of Fairfield Illinois, Dr. Linda Perry of the SIUe Piano Department, and MTNA Certified Master Teacher, Dr. Stephanie Owen of Lebanon Illinois. Alexandra has extensive experience in advanced concert and college level repertoire, in both performance and education.
Her specialties as an instructor include studies in: French Classical Technique, training in Educational Psychology, NLP based instruction techniques, and a virtuosic specialization in Romantic Period music such as Chopin and Liszt. With regards to methodology, Alexandra is classically trained and puts an extremely high value on solid sight reading, concrete and practical knowledge of music theory and developing a strong sense of musicality. Proper instruction of theory and technique will be incorporated; scales, chords, arpeggios and cadences are all important priorities. In addition to this, Alexandra is familiar with various styles of music and makes it a priority that the learning experience is memorable and enjoyable by incorporating music and musical styles that are meaningful to each and every student.
